Christianity

About 300 years after the death of Jesus, Christianity began, starting in the Roman Empire. Christianity is an evangelistic religion, meaning its followers are taught to spread the news. This has helped Christianity spread from Palestine to Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa. During the 17th century, the early European settlers in America took their Christian faith with them, and in the 19th century, Christianity saw a large expansion when missionaries followed European colonists into many parts of Africa and Asia. There are nearly 2 billion Christians in the world today, belonging to the 3 major groups of Christianity; Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox. These groups share the same basic beliefs but teach different doctrines.
